DescriptionThe DMG file extension was created by Apple and is primarily used on Macintosh computers and devices. In most cases the DMG file is used to give the Mac devices the ability to install different types of files and software that originate from the internet. The DMG file is essentially a mountable disc image that shows up on your desktop when it is opened. The file contains raw data that is usually both encrypted and compressed. Mac systems treat DMG in the same way they would treat a disc that was inserted and they instantly try to open or “run” the file.ZIP is an archive file format that supports lossless data compression. A .ZIP file may contain one or more files or directories that may have been compressed. The .ZIP file format permits a number of compression algorithms, though DEFLATE is the most common.
Technical detailsThe DMG file extension was specifically designed for Macintosh computers and users are likely to have a lot of trouble if trying to use them on a Windows device. There may be instances where one can convert the files, but it probably needed to look for additional utilities that will allow the file to be accessed from the chosen device. There are some also executable files that can help with this. However, if the original DMG file was password protected by Apple, those executable applications may not work. The DMG file has several different formats that are used and these include Linux, Fat32, UFS, ProDOS, HFS and HFS+.ZIP files are archives that store multiple files. .ZIP allows contained files to be compressed using many different methods, as well as simply storing a file without compressing it. Each file is stored separately, allowing different files in the same archive to be compressed using different methods.

The only rar to dmg conversion that would make sense is extraction of RAR archives that contain DMG disk image within, which is often the case of.rar files downloaded from the internet. Other than that, nothing prevents users from creating a DMG image from files inside RAR archive using one of the dedicated disk image handling utility for Mac. Adobe RAW file converter software was the very first that allowed users to convert RAW images to DNG. Unlike most camera software, it allows you complete control and greater flexibility over conversion settings and compresses. While offering additional editing features like white balance, even after the image is captured.

In the Disk Utility app on your Mac, choose Images Convert, select the disk image file you want to convert, then click Open. Click the Image Format pop-up menu, then choose a new image format. Read-only: The disk image can’t be written to, and is quicker to create and open.
